While we were assisting an out of town client to find the perfect San Francisco get away home, we were asked to remodel a retail space on Maiden Lane in adjacent to Union Square to house his new high end boutique clothing store. The architect’s worked closely with the Owner to take this very unique old brick building to a new level. The project was a fun and fast paced experience for us working downtown and exploring “loft and raw” material choices. The building itself was home to a Barbary Coast Bar and reported upstairs brothel in the Gold Rush days with a lot history in the original brick and steel elements. The owner supplied a number of large scale antique pieces for install, including sconces that originated from the Lyon, France main train station.
